Direct answer
How many lands should I run in a Commander deck?
Updated
Most Commander decks should run 37 lands. Aggro or low-curve builds can drop to 35; ramp, control, or high-curve decks push to 38 or 39. Anything under 35 or over 40 needs a specific reason to justify it.

Why the answer is what it is
The 37-land baseline is derived from Frank Karsten's manabase math applied to 100-card singleton, and it matches the mode of top-eight Commander decks over the last three years.
The two variables that shift the number: average CMC and ramp density. Every 2 pieces of two-mana-or-cheaper ramp lets you shave one land. Every 0.5 CMC above 4.0 adds one land back.
- ◆Under 3.0 average CMC + 8+ ramp = 35 lands
- ◆Average 3.0-4.0 CMC = 37 lands (baseline)
- ◆Above 4.0 CMC or landfall wincon = 38-39 lands
- ◆Never below 35, never above 40 (except landfall)
